Many times before I’ve found myself at the Keg… for their Miami Haze, for the summer terrace, for anything really, except food.
The other week Monsieur and I decided to resolve this problem.
Having reserved for 8 (their policy is such on hockey nights: no reservation before 8 – gottaloveMontreal- ) when we
purposely showed up at 7, they made us cut the hefty waiting line.
For those of you who are new to the Keg experience, listen up: here you come for the
Miami Haze summer terrace steak.
Monsieur chose the New York Classic (served with roasted garlic mashed potatoes, grilled vegetables, portobello mushrooms and a out-of-this-world Ceasar salad) and moi? The New York -minus the Ceasar- but with a Twice Baked potato instead. Topped with bacon bites, and seriously crunchy, it was good. But not as good as the steak.
I know I sound melodramatic/ like some Keg sponsor, when really, it was simply that good. The 12 oz cut, aged a minimum of 28 days, was juicy, flavourful, decadent. At first I had doubts about ordering such a big portion, I’m a Madame after all (and Monsieur’s appetite’s no match). But despite myself, I cleaned my plate faster than my better half. No wonder it’s listed as the King of steaks. With an impeccable service, and a bill much sweeter than here, it was one of those nights that make you forget the cold, greyish January outside so much you’re high on good vino and food.Posted in restaurant recommendations | Leave a comment
